Pack 62 Camp Out 2017

Please join us for the only outdoor camping opportunity for the Pack this year.  This is what scouting is all about!   As parents, you might think that camping outside in October will be cold and uncomfortable (and it probably will be!), but you and your son will love it in the end.  Ask him what he thinks of the idea!
This camp out is as soft and easy as they get.  Tent camping is encouraged.  It takes place near a large cabin where there are many amenities such as flush toilets, electricity for air mattress pumping, a refrigerator, a stove and more.  For those not game for tent camping, or don’t have one, bunks are available in the Lodge on a first come, first served reservation basis.  But, be aware that this is a Scout camp, so it’s rather “rustic”.  There are 28 vinyl-mattress bunks, generally 8 per room, with some rooms reserved for females (mothers and sons) to the extent possible.  We do our best to accommodate the needs.  You will likely be sleeping in a room with other families.
The scouts (and their parents!) will enjoy a day of fun activities followed by dinner and evening entertainment (we have projected an outdoor movie for the past 2 years) and will conclude with a campfire.  Breakfast the next morning is also provided, but scouts should either have lunch before arriving, or bring one, on Saturday.  Experienced campers bring their own comfort foods, but must be kept in your car or the cabin, not your tent.  Here are some resources:  cubscoutpack62.wordpress.com/resources/
The following link is where you need to sign up by Wednesday, October 18.  It provides many details, and includes another link to the Pack website for even more information.  The Pack meeting this month on October 16 will be almost entirely dedicated to providing information on the camp out itself, and outdoor camping in general.  Many experienced campers will be on hand to help you with anything.  Finally, remember that you will be only 2 minutes from your car, which will be only 30 minutes from home, so if you’re REALLY miserable, you can simply drive home…with your Scout!
Camp Out Date:  Saturday, October 21 (1:00 PM arrival for most scouts, 10:00 AM for Webelos and AoLs) to Sunday, October 22, 10:00AM.
You may arrive any time before 6:00 PM Saturday if necessary, but before 3:00 is preferred.
Location:  TVSR  Treasure Valley Scout Reservation  394 Pleasantdale Rd  Rutland, MA
Area:  Venture Lodge (near the West Lodge)
Providing food, comfort, and safety for roughly 40 scouts will demand the efforts of all adults attending.  So, as you sign up your scout, you will be added to the “Adult Help” list.  This would be for about 2 hours duration each, unless you choose to do more.  This could be meal preparation, chaperoning scout groups with a leader, fire watch, or any other unexpected needs, so please be flexible.  We would appreciate notes about time limitations, such as “I have to leave at 8 AM Sunday” for example, or skills like “I am a chef” so we can adapt accordingly.  We will have a list prior to the event to make adjustments.
